Project Spotlight:

Southwest Water Reclamation Facility

The Southwest Water Reclamation Facility is a new 8 million gallon (mgd) Membrane Water Treatment Plant located in Henderson, Nevada. The plant employs leading edge technology with membrane bioreactors (MBR) and an ultraviolet (UV) disinfection process to treat wastewater to some of the highest levels in the country. MBR has an extremely small footprint and enables Henderson City to minimize the quantity of chemicals used and stored on site.

Brahma completed the installation of all equipment and process piping on the nearly $100M facility. We supplied and installed all process piping (ranging in diameter from ½” to 42”) and valve packages including ductile iron, stainless steel, carbon, CPVC and dual containment. As well as process piping, we were responsible for the complete installation of mechanical equipment. We installed chemical metering equipment, vessel type ultraviolet light disinfection equipment, odor controlling carbon filters and blowers. Our scope of work included the installation of a new influent diversion structure, influent pump station, headwork containing pumps, air treatment, coarse screens, fine screens, grit removal, bioreactor basins including aerators, a blower complex, membrane basins, a membrane equipment building and a chemical storage building.

What’s unique about this project is that the plant uses an ultra-filter membrane to produce a water quality that meets stringent EPA drinking water standards. The ultra-filter membrane allows the use of less chemicals, reducing physical footprint and producing less residual waste than a typical conventional potable water treatment system. The Satellite type installation enables Henderson City to treat wastewater in southwest Henderson and provide high-quality reusable water to local customers. Brahma was able to utilize its highly established supplier relationships, experienced craftsmen and qualified personnel to complete the project safely and on time.
