The Hot Rolling Mill Project is a state-of-the-art seamless pipe mill located in Bay City, TX. Brahma performed the mechanical equipment installation, the piping systems installation and provided commissioning assistance through initial startup.
Brahma installed 11,5800 tons of rolling mill process equipment and 144,000 ft. of piping for all process systems including: Hydraulic Systems, Lubrication Systems, Grease Systems, Water Systems, Air Systems, Fire Suppression Systems, Graphite Systems and Tubing Systems.
The mechanical installation required Brahma’s millwrights to align rolling mill and transfer equipment to highly precise tolerances over large distances. All equipment was grouted using cementitious grout and first fill services for all lubrication oil, grease and hydraulic system oil. Uncrating and disposal of all crating material was performed within our scope as well as transport of all equipment from an onsite laydown area to inside the building.
The mill’s piping scope of work included fabrication of spools, site installation, support installation, tubing installation, pickling & flushing, hydro-testing, all NDT, painting and insulation. Piping systems ranged from 18” large bore piping to ¼” tubing systems, carbon steel and stainless material and welding procedures.
One of Brahma’s strengths is manpower. We have a database of over 7,000 skilled craft across the nation. Our peak staff on this project included over 550 direct Brahma employees, and another 60 subcontracted employees. We ramp up quickly as required, and our personnel are respectful and professional. The craft Brahma provided for this job included millwrights, iron workers, riggers, crane operators, structural welders, pipe fitters, pipe welders, fire watch, confined space attendants, logistics coordinators, safety personnel, inventory attendants and general mechanical labor.
Brahma demonstrated its unmatched safety culture throughout this project. The Client Safety Representatives mentioned on many occasions that Brahma operated the “best and most cooperative safety program onsite”. We had no lost time incidents with over 1.3 million manhours.
